This nice lady told me she doesn't mind feeding all comers, including the squirrels, but she was tired of them chewing up the wooden bird feeders. So we made one that was adequate to feed everyone, would stand up to the squirrels and was removable, in case it needed to be moved elsewhere. The main center post is a hollow tube that will slid over a 4" cedar post cemented in the ground.

The roof was meant to be clay tiles, but they tuned out to be too heavy. The roofing wholesaler had another suggestion, rubber tiles that look exactly like slate. Of course the real trick was fastening them since we couldn't very well nail them into the steel plate used for the roof.
